Tony Khan Receives “Powerbomb” Threat From WCW Legend One Day After Calling Him “A Clown”

Tony Khan has been on the radar of many wrestling fans and critics for good or for bad. Recently, a wrestling legend joined the side of people taking shots at him. Even though it is not a rare sight to see Khan at the receiving end of comments from fans, a wrestling veteran who famously wrestled The Undertaker at WrestleMania and became one of the names in his popular streak, indulging in this debate is something rare.

While calling out AEW’s owner, Sid doesn’t grant any background information about his tweet against Khan So, for now, all we know is that he is angry enough to ‘Powerbomb’ him whenever the opportunity presents itself.

Will Tony Khan respond to Sid’s powerbomb threat?

Sid Eudy spent a long time in the industry and wrestled for both WCW and WWE during the late 80s and 90s. During his tenure in WCW, he competed under the name Sid Vicious and won the World title twice. In WWE he had two stints from 1991-1992 and then from 1995-1997 and is a former two-time WWE Champion. Sid also notably lost to The Undertaker at WrestleMania 13 for the WWE Championship. After his retirement, he has largely stayed from the business but recently his comments on Tony Khan have caught people by surprise.

On December 17, he took to Twitter to call out Tony Khan. The former WCW star called out Tony Khan by tweeting, “Tony Khan is a clown.

Sid offered no further explanation about his tweet. However, he returned exactly a day later and uploaded another tweet targeting Khan. “I want to Powerbomb Tony Khan,” tweeted the former wrestler. Both of these tweets targeting the same person have been without much context or explanation. While it could have been done simply to mess around, the 63-year-old might be hinting at a temporary return to the ring or a general disapproval of Khan.

Even if Sid just meant to have fun, Tony Khan has already established that he doesn’t enjoy getting himself or his promotion called out. While it remains to be seen if he responds to Sid, Khan went after another famous WCW name in a recent tweet.

Tony Khan calls WCW veteran “irrelevant”

Rising as a rival to WWE, AEW has been under the strict scrutiny of wrestling fans. While fans at times have appreciated the shows and booking of AEW, they have also been vocal about other issues affecting the Jacksonville-based promotion.

Khan addressed this issue in the media scrum following ROH’s Final Battle and claimed how his company is constantly under attack and he clearly doesn’t appreciate it. Though he claimed he ignores such noises, he chose to respond to wrestling veteran Disco Inferno. After the Collison episode on December 16, Khan took to X to ask fans how they felt about the show, to which Inferno replied, “Like the show needs a reset.”

Taking an issue with this, Khan responded by calling the former WCW star a “parasite”. He replied, “The belief that you’re an irrelevant parasite unites the entire pro wrestling community.” Do you think Sycho Sid’s tweet was a reaction to this? And will Tony Khan respond to Sid’s comments?
