Producer Damon D'Oliveira has admitted that this film was simply made to get noticed "in a crowded marketplace", citing the attention sexually provocative flick 'Shortbus' (2006) received at film festivals as his inspiration; 'Lie With Me' went on to serve the same purpose for his and director Clement Virgo's production company, Conquering Lion Pictures, affording them more financing for their subsequent films.
