Beverly Hills, 90210 had many storylines throughout its run and plenty of twists and turns. Most storylines were wrapped up nicely, but not all.
For 10 seasons, Beverly Hills, 90210 relayed plenty of stories to its multitude of fans. For the most part, they did an excellent job of wrapping everything up. As with any show that lasts as long as this one, there were a few stories that were abandoned.
When the show ended, it wrapped up most storylines and paid tribute to the fans that stuck with them. There were some subplots never resolved, though. Here are five subplots that were wrapped up well and five that really weren't.
Not Wrapped Up: Gina's Storyline
Gina Kincaid arrived in season nine, obviously brought in to fill the Brenda/Val void. However, Gina was never the same level of schemer that those two were. Gina was the cousin of Donna Martin, but it was later revealed Gina was Donna's half-sister, sharing the same father, Dr. John Martin. After the initial shock, she slowly grew closer to her father before he died of a heart attack.
Gina delivered the eulogy, as Donna was too upset, and Donna and her mom began accepting her. After being essentially dumped by Dylan, who she was sleeping with, Gina left town, never to be heard from again.
Wrapped Up: Steve And Janet's Publishing Careers
After a few false starts, Steve and Janet became an endgame couple. They end up married with a daughter, Maddie. Steve eventually turned the paper into a tabloid to keep it profitable and media mogul, Charles Yoffee, eventually bought the paper.
Steve became a stay-at-home dad, and Janet's still at The Beat. However, she doesn't want that life and she and Steve wanted work-life balance. Steve takes her to an old warehouse with the intention of starting a new publication while working and parenting together.
Not Wrapped Up: Kelly's Eating Disorder
Toward the start of the show, Kelly Taylor developed anorexia, to the point of taking dieting pills. It all culminated with her passing out in the bathroom at the Peach Pit during her 18th birthday party and she was rushed to the hospital.
The doctor tells her she needs to eat a balanced diet. Her mother scolds her, which is never a good way to handle such situations. The storyline is never revisited, even when Kelly later goes on to have a lot of self-confidence issues related to her scars from being burned in a fire.
Wrapped Up - Marchette Storyline
In season six, Dylan decides to get close to Toni Marchette to get back at Anthony Marchette, the man he thinks killed his father. The two fall in love. Her father tries to end the relationship and only drives his daughter away. To ensure that they can be together, Dylan and Toni marry and plan to leave town.
Anthony Marchette orders a hit on Dylan. Unfortunately, she is driving his Porsche and is the one who gets killed. At her funeral, Tony presents Dylan with a gun, asking him to kill him. Dylan declines and leaves. When he returns, he learns that shortly after their last encounter, Tony moved his daughter's grave then killed himself. Dylan grieves Toni one more time and then he can move on.
Not Wrapped Up - Donna's Drug Addiction
In season 8, as Donna is working as a stylist, she is in a car accident. During her recovery, she becomes addicted to her prescribed painkillers prescribed. To counteract the exhaustion they cause, she takes amphetamines. When her dealer is taken away, she goes to a pharmacy to get the drugs, but is unable to get any. She then convinces her Dad to give her "enough drugs for the weekend." She downs them all and gets sent to the hospital.
In the hospital, it all comes out. When she is released, the issue just seems to have resolved itself. Donna has kicked her drug habit in one stay for an accidental OD and the series never addresses it again.
Wrapped Up - End Of Kelly And Matt's Relationship
In the final season, as Matt and Kelly are planning their wedding day, they just can't get on the same page. Finally, Kelly puts everyone out of their misery and ends the engagement and relationship. But Matt shows up at David and Donna's impromptu wedding to tell Kelly he isn't ready to end it.
Then he sees her making lovey eyes at Dylan as she reads a poem during the ceremony. He hangs around to talk to her at the reception, and they part on pretty decent terms.
Not Wrapped Up - Jack McKay
What was the point of bringing Jack McKay back? Dylan appears back on the show, just to find out that everything with the Marchette's was in vain, as his Dad was not dead. The FBI intercepted the plan, and Jack had been living in the Witness Protection Program this whole time. Dylan is less than thrilled, but when it is proved that Jack is still not safe and enemies are looking for him, he agrees his Dad should stay in the Witness Protection Program.
Since Jack then disappears from the series for good again, it is confusing as to why this storyline was even introduced. It seems like there could have been a bit more resolution here.
Wrapped Up - Val On Road To Recovery
Valerie Malone. The name just sounds like trouble. Val had one of the rockiest roads on the show, and that is saying something. All of Val's issues and schemes culminated in a confession that her father had sexually abused her as a child. Also, he didn't commit suicide - she killed him in self-defense. Val learns that her mom knew but didn't do anything to stop it.
Val goes to turn herself in when her mother threatens to press charges. Her mom stops her, having a change of heart, and Val moves back to Buffalo to deal with her issues. We see her again in the finale at Donna's bachelorette party and the wedding/reception. Val seems well on the road to recovery. Most fans were glad to see she was as sassy as ever, though.
Not Wrapped Up - Dylan And Brenda
There are a lot of questions about Dylan and Brenda. After Dylan left, there are a few different allusions to the fact that they are together in London. In season 8/9, Brandon and Kelly even have plans to visit them in London on their honeymoon. But when Dylan returns, it is revealed that they have been apart for years.
This makes no sense. Why would this plan be brought up if the two supposedly weren't together? What happened? It was a clean, non-dramatic situation - highly doubtful to anyone who has seen more than one episode of seasons 1 to 4.
Wrapped Up - Andrea Zuckerman
In college, Andrea gets pregnant, has a baby, gets married, and has an affair. At the end of season five, she moves with her husband and baby to Connecticut to attend Yale. She returns in the sixth season finale for Steve's 21st birthday. We learn that Yale is good, and Hannah is two and thriving. Then, she returns for their five-year high school reunion in season eight and is now getting divorced and is miserable.
Finally, she returns for the series finale, and there is no update about her marriage, but she seems happier and says Hannah is good. She seems to come full circle finally and is the only major character who the audience hears about consistently after leaving and without returning as a cast member
